There are many things you might think about in the middle of the night whilst sat on a jump seat of a 747: "I must swing past the supermarket to get milk… What am I going to eat for dinner tonight…Hope the traffic isn’t too bad on the way home” etc etc
On said flight back in January 2019, I hatched a plan on a used drip mat at 35,000ft (or thereabouts) to give my vision of Crew Radio it’s wings.
The notion was to start a station for current crew, aspiring crew and those who have moved onto pastures new. United by a love of this quirky job and ultimately a love of travel, I set about constructing a schedule to embody the many voices that reflect crew lifestyle and more importantly to:
Give crew a voice.
On my return to base, I began the long process of contacting crew whom I knew were also broadcasters. In addition to providing great music and chat, I wanted the station to address the lonely aspect of crew life by becoming your go to radio station to make you feel at home wherever you are.
It's a non political station, affiliated with no one airline and the aim is for our audience to be from all over the world. In addition, I am proud to say that my passion for Crew Radio and what it embodies has already started to attract an abundance of international broadcasters!
Finally why would I put a picture of NYC on the home page? Well apart from it being one of the most instantly recognisable cities in the world (especially to crew) it's the embryo platform of my marvellous idea. How could I not credit it?
